3L Robotics, a company specializing in the development of helipads and other critical drone infrastructure such as charging stations and hangars, is preparing to test drone delivery services at the Brno Exhibition Grounds (BVV). The company will utilize the unique environment of the BVV Living Lab, a real-world laboratory setting, to strategically deploy helipads across the exhibition area for comprehensive testing.

This innovative project is being conducted in collaboration with the European Space Agency (ESA), which is contributing expertise in the implementation of navigation systems and defining aerial corridors for drone operations. “The project will also explore how drones can support critical infrastructure, such as delivering medical supplies, providing emergency logistics, or transporting vital components quickly in case of infrastructure failures,” said Luboš Lněnička, owner of 3L Robotics.

In addition to the tests, a feasibility study will be developed, which will serve as the foundation for future steps toward implementing drone delivery services in urban areas.

“The BVV Living Lab provides a perfect environment for the development and testing of breakthrough technologies. We are pleased that Brno Exhibition Grounds can become a key partner in this project, which aims to accelerate package deliveries to end users and significantly contribute to the efficient operation of city infrastructure,” said Jan Kubata, CEO of Brno Exhibition Grounds.

This project is a crucial part of a broader initiative focused on integrating drones into urban logistics and transportation. The goal is to create a comprehensive ecosystem that allows for the safe and efficient operation of drones in densely populated areas while exploring their potential role in supporting critical infrastructure. The testing at the Brno Exhibition Grounds will provide valuable insights into the technical, operational, and regulatory challenges associated with this innovative approach to urban transport. These insights will then be applied as the project expands to other cities and regions.
